LSAT RC Section : Needed?

by vikrant.rajput.6 Tue Aug 18, 2009 2:53 pm

Hi,

Some questions:

1) Is LSAT RC section recommended for GMAT prep? Is'nt it good to have a feel of the tough RCs so that one feels comfortable with the GMAT RCs?
2) Should one just concentrate on getting the Answers right without paying much attention to the time spent on each RC? The questions look good.
3) How much time, "ideally", a GMAT aspirant should try to spend on one LSAT RC? Information shared with a real example [Length of passsage with No of Questions] from the Document would be appreaciated.

Thanks,
Vik..

Hi Vik,

There are fewer differences between GMAT and LSAT Read Comprehension than between GMAT and LSAT Reasoning questions. For that reason, LSAT RC passages and questions may be a decent resource for additional GMAT practice. However, the best practice for the GMAT is always GMAT questions, esp. from the OG and GMATPrep.

Time is always important on the GMAT. I think you should always practice with the clock running at least. You may let yourself go over the target time a little on occasion, but it is still important to know how much longer you are taking, in order to determine whether doing so is worth it.

Aim for 7-8 minutes for a passage of typical GMAT length plus 3-4 questions. Allow an average of 1:15 more per question if additional practice questions are included with the passage.
