Manhattan SC Guide - Idioms - Probably:

RIGHT: PERHAPS (or MAYBE) this situation is as bad as it can get.

WRONG: This situation is maybe as bad as it can get.

Why is the first sentence right and the second wrong? Is it because of the placement of MAYBE?

there is no WHY for idioms. they are they way they are, and you just have to memorize them..
