MBA Profile: GMAT660 GPA 3.54

by MichaelF64 Sun Nov 02, 2014 2:51 pm

Hi Experts,

GMAT: 660 (Q49 : V32 : IR6 : AWA4)
GPA 3.54 overall/ 3.7 Major(Finance)
24 years old
1 year of Work exp: Merrill Lynch
Series 7 , 66 registered

I sent my scores to:
DUKE
UCLA
MIAMI
WHARTON
NOTRE DAME

I wasn't too happy with my GMAT score, I was hoping for 700+.
I did sub-par on the verbal section and i'm planning on retaking in a month.
I already have applied to Miami(most realistic school for me)

1)I'm just wondering what my chances are for these schools?

2)If these schools receive my GMAT scores without an application will they discard them?

Hi there,

Makes sense to give it a re-take; schools take the highest score and taking it more than once is fairly common.

Schools just have the files digitally when you send them your scores; they often have them on record for several years, but if you get an improved score you'd want to send them the updated report as well.

You may realize that you are less-experienced than the average incoming MBA student at most of the schools on your list though right?? (Average = 5 years ft work experience). That could be a challenge for most of those, except perhaps Miami (side note is that U of M or Miami Ohio? I'm a UM undergrad myself ;) ).

Good luck! Scores are valid 5 years so if you did decide to get a bit more work experience you would still have the scores ready....

University of Miami. I'm from the Orlando, FL area. I realize most of the schools do require a lot of work experience. It's crossed my mind that maybe I will enter the job market for another couple years before attending a program.

I guess I'll make that decision when it comes to it. Just crossing my fingers on Miami, would love to live down there :)

Thanks for the advice.

Gotcha. I'm a FL girl myself. In general UM has been more open to applicants straight from undergrad or with less experience, though I haven't looked at the class profile lately, you can check it out to see the stats. Good luck to you!!
