Meaning: Match You Words.

by zenith Mon Mar 25, 2013 12:52 pm

SC Guide says --

"Sentences contain pairs of words or phrases that must match. For example, the subject and
the verb must match. This "matching" concept has grammatical implications (for instance,
the subject and the verb must agree in number), but it also has logical implications. In other
words, we must remember that the subject and the verb must make sense together!"

I understand the concept of Subject Verb agreement. Or noun and pronoun agreement.

But I am not sure what does it mean when it says - "makes logical sense together"

do we have any example of a question based on this concept.

thanks,

logical sense just means that the sentence isn't absurd. sometimes all the grammar can check out on an answer choice but the sentence just doesn't make any sense. don't worry about whether things make logical sense; if they don't, you'll know it! it will be one of those situations where you think to yourself "i know the grammar is okay, but this sentence is too crazy to be right!". and of course there will be another grammatically correct option that DOES make sense; pick that one instead.. :)
