MGMAT Advanced GMAT Quant, Chapter 3: Problem Set No. 9

by mtanutama Sat Dec 07, 2013 12:11 am

Facts: x, y = +ve int., (y + 2)! / x!
Question: y = odd?

The book's answer is C, the book argues by
2! / 2! = 1 (okay)
3! / 3! = 1 (okay)
Thus (1) is insufficient.

But, for 2! / 2! = 1 to be valid, y = 0 and the facts said that x, y = +ve int and 0 is non-positive. Thus, my answer sticks to A.

Am I correct?

Hi,

* This is the wrong folder for this question. If the question is from a MGMAT non-CAT source, then it belongs in the MGMAT non-CAT folder. Please re-post it in the correct folder; thanks.

* Please write out the question in full, exactly as it appears in the source. Do not abbreviate. (You've abbreviated so heavily that I can't actually tell what the question is.)

* Finally, the question doesn't make sense as transcribed: you've got the fraction (y + 2)!/x!, but you haven't said anything about it. (It's an integer? It's equal to some value? Etc.)

Thanks.
