MGMAT Guide number 8, 6th Edition Sentence Correction Pg 35

by ParthJ26 Wed Nov 22, 2017 7:38 am

Hi everyone.

Please refer to Page 35, Guide Number 8 (sentence correction), 6th edition, MGMAT books.

Q5 of Problem set.

Hector remembers San Francisco as though time has stood still in the 10 years since he left.

According to the guide, this sentence is correct as per both grammar and meaning.

However, I didn't understand how this sentence is correct. The word though does not convey contrast.

Please help me understand as to why this sentence is correct.

Best,
Parth

You may find your answer in this thread: https://www.manhattanprep.com/gmat/foru ... ml#p115432

Please search before posting.

The word 'though' isn't only used for contrast. Here, the phrase 'as though' means something like, 'as if' or 'like'.
