MGMAT RC Strategy - Skeletal Sketch

by ali.gmat01 Tue Dec 21, 2010 4:48 am

Hi Stacey,

I read through the RC section of the Strategy Guides(3rd edition) and I find the RC strategy very appealing. I tried to apply it in practice questions but every single time i mess up jotting down the KEYWORDS for the limbs of the sketch and take a lot of time to write down the sketch.

The guide says SKIM through the paragraph withhout reading. I somehow happen to read the entire paragraph in search of KEYWORDS being afraid of missing a few. And even after reading the entire paragraph i cant pick up the right keywords.

Also, is there a different approch that one could use instead of writing the sketch? I realised that i take almost half the time writing the sketch.

Thanks in Advance stacey.

Regards,
Ali.

well, i've found that the sketch is actually the fastest and most efficient way to take effective notes. i wouldn't recommend another approach, but rather that you work to improve on this approach. so you're missing key words? figure out why, and then go back and redo the passage. don't just move on to the next passage; reinforcing bad habits will not help you improve. instead, stick with the passage until you know what the key words are and can create a sketch in a reasonable time that hits the right key words. then ask yourself why those were key words and the words you chose were not key words. learning from your mistakes is far better than getting the question right! good luck with it, and let me know how this works out for you..
