can anyone please explain the difference between 'which' vs 'in which' modifier. whats the difference between them?

i'll give you an example of each one.

hopefully, the examples will be self-explanatory.
the meanings/usages of these modifiers are not similar at all, so, it should be basically impossible to confuse them.

The stadium is used by the city's hockey and basketball teams.
From November through April there is a game almost every night in the stadium.

—> From November through April there is a game almost every night in the stadium, which is used by the city's hockey and basketball teams.

The animal sleeps in a burrow.
This burrow is warm and dry.

—> The burrow in which the animal sleeps is warm and dry.
