Much needed information regarding B-Schools !

by bhatnagar.shorya Wed Aug 18, 2010 8:50 am

Hi,
I am struggling to find the right B-Schools for me. Below is my profile:

B.Tech with 5.4 years in IT and 8 months as a faculty at an MBA coaching Institute.
: Worked with TCS for 3.5 years (stayed in China for 1.2 years), working with RBS currently for last 1.8 years (has a chance to stay at London for a project take on).
: GMAT 690 (Q - 49, V - 35, AWA - 5)
: Average Acads, one of the toppers during engineering but from a private college.
: Intensive involvement in Social services since 1999, worked for atleast 5 NGOs and Animal shelters. This also involved development of projects for these NGOs.
: Experience working with clinets from different countries such as US,China,France and UK.
: Currently involved in Requirement Analysis, Budgeting and mentoring resources at RBS for setting up a new project, The same project for which I was sent to UK for project take on.
: Extremely interested in working with IT Consulting giants for their international business.
: Good communication skills(as per the feedback from people around me). Though just scored 96 in TOEFL in last quarter of 2008 and the score seems to be expired now.

My criterion for finding appropriate B-Schools is as below:

* Atleast 50 percent scholarship
* Provides MBA with a General Management prospective.
* Can provide me loan without a cosigner.
*Have scope of providing Assistantship and paet time jobs inside the school campus.(can be treated secondary if loan or scholarship is there)

I wish to work for a reputed IT firm such as KPMG and Cap Gemini in it's operations division and to explore new business new horizons for the firm. The main issue is that I would merely have Rs. 12 lakhs with me from all assests till I start my MBA session.

Could you please suggest me some B-schools which can justify with my constraints and choices. Your help would be much appreciated and would help me come out of this darkness of confusion.

Thanks and Reagards

Hi bhatnagar.shorya

Thanks for writing in. You have some clear strengths in your application -- multinational experience, a clear career trajectory to date and a logical post-MBA goal, as well as some unique volunteer work.

When it comes to scholarships it is tough to give application advice. Financial aid decisions are based on the individual so I can't recommend schools that meet your description in regard to cosigners and amount of aid provided. I would keep in mind, however, that 50% scholarship is very hard to find.

I suggest coming up with a list of schools you are interested in and then doing further research on their aid policies.

Best of luck,

Daniel Richards
