Need help with RC! Please

by amy Tue Jan 18, 2011 7:56 pm

Hi,

I am struggling with RC a lot. I don't know how to improve. My problem is kind of two-fold.
1) If I try to finish the exam in time my overall performance in RC decreases to as low as 33%. But if I take time and do them at my pace I get at least 90% correct. I know that in real GMAT I am not going to get all the time in the world. So what should I do?
2) I have used all the material and now I know the passage and their answers too. What should I use to improve my performance? I have utilized OG 11, 10 and 9 almost 3 times with analysis of answer choices at the back.

It feels like I need to improve my comprehension abilities but how? AND yes, I am not a native English speaker. But does that make any difference?

Please help.

Hi for the same. Follow the guidelines that Manhattan RC and CR book has given. Follow the Skull- body structure . Main point is generally in the 1st para and rest of the paras are either supporting that main point or presenting an alt view so u just need to know the flow of the passage. Hope that helps.

well ... this is an awfully general question that is certainly impossible to answer in one post.

you may want to check out the videos here:
http://www.manhattangmat.com/thursdays-with-ron.cfm

if you watch the videos for the following dates -- 19/aug/2010, 9/sep/2010, 6/jan/2011 -- you'll see 4.5 hours of tips on just this sort of thing.

hope that helps
