Dear intructors,

OG12,Q21

[deleted because problem is from a banned source - see below]

OA is A. But I cannot understand,in A,why"over the past twenty years"insert between "knowledge"and "about balabal", I guess should be modify "amass" by follow immediate just like E. Please correct if I have a mistake.

Regards,
Isa

OG is a banned source; it is illegal to post OG questions anywhere on the web. If you are in one of our classes, please ask OG questions during office hours or before/after class..

As for your question, I'm afraid it has grammar problems that I am unable to decipher. Can you reword your question in such a way that it is grammatically correct so that it will make sense to me?

Thanks for your reply,I try to reword more clearly.

I just bought the Manhatton books material rather than a student, so I fail to ask question in the class.

In the explanation of OG 12,Q21,A is the correct. I guess "over the past twenty years"shoul modify the verb "amassed",But I cannot understand why the adverb phrase "over the past twenty years"insert between a noun "knowledge"and another modifier "about the brain" which modify the noun"knowledge. It makes me understand the adverb phrase modify the noun"knowledge".

If I am not correct, please help to correct.

Hi there,
An adverbial modifier does not have to be placed next to the verb or clause it is modifying; adverbial modifiers can be placed in a variety of places in the sentence.

It's hard to talk much more about this without discussing the actual question. As you know, that is a banned source since it is a real OG question. :-( Sorry that I can't be more helpful.
