Not able to grasp the Advanced Sets in MGMAT Math Guides

This is the second time I am going through the mgmat math guides...while i enjoy and can easily grasp the Ist set in all the guides but when I reach the advanced set I seem to be losing interest, this could be because the topics start getting complex.

first time around also i faced this and now again i seem to be hitting the wall with this one..i am not overloading myself on any day..but these advanced portions seem to be becoming problematic..

so the ques is:

on the real gmat, whats the percentage of ques which use these advanced concepts.? i ask this because on my first gmat i saw only easy ques and almost nothing related to these advanced topics...but then that could be because i wasnt doing well as i scored only 35 on quant.

i am trying to up my score from 530 (35q, 28v) to a 680+ or even a 700 in 2 months time.
