OFFICIAL GUIDE QUESTIONS

by andres_p76 Tue Aug 06, 2013 8:48 pm

I have just found out that we cannot post any of the Official Guide Questions, since GMAC has asked so. However, I find that request to be against the Fair Use doctrine for educational purposes. I would really like to discuss some official questions and see the feedback from other people. So, I was wondering if I could mimic (write an analogy, changing nouns, etc) a question, only imitating the flaws and post it in the forum for discussion. Please let me know.

i see you've been doing some homework here.

1/
in terms of "fair use" as far as US copyright law is concerned, "educational purposes" refers only to nonprofit educational purposes.
we're a for-profit company, so that doesn't apply here.

2/
we have a very good relationship with GMAC, and we would like to preserve that relationship. so, this is not simply a matter of lawyering; this is also a matter of acceding to a reasonable request in order to preserve that relationship.

yes, of course you can do this. (be careful, though; it's harder than you think to do this, especially with CR problems.)

if you do "mock up" an OG question, please provide the edition and problem # of the original, just so that we can check up on the analogy.
thanks.
