OG 12 SC 47

If we use conjunction AND then the two sentences(as in this question) must be independent of each other, but the question above requires a relation to the first sentence
(Five fledgling sea eagles left their nests in western
Scotland this summer) and hence AND is NOT required here.

so eliminate B C D E
IS MY ANALYSIS CORRECT?

I know if you use "AND...SO" or "AND....THUS" etc, we can relate the sentences
But in this question the AND is by itself in all the answer choices(except A) and hence we can eliminate B C D E ??

hi, actually I'm wondering why "transplant" has "s" with it? what is the subject of transplant since the five eagles cannot be the subject? And, is "begun in 1975? modify "transplants" ? Thanks!

In this sentence, "transplants" is a noun. "Transplants ... began in xxxx", by itself, would be a complete sentence.
