When a new organic produce mart, Green Thumbs Mart, opened in San Piñata, everyone expected it to put Earth Friends Supermarket, the only other mart in the city, out of business, especially as Green Thumbs had launched an aggressive campaign marketing its fresh organic produce to even neighboring cities. Surprisingly, however, in the year since Green Thumbs opened, the sales of organic produce at the Earth Friends have increased significantly too.
Which of the following, if true, most helps to explain the increase?
a. Unlike the Earth Friends Supermarket, Green Thumbs Mart serves considerably more customers on weekends than it does on weekdays.
b. Most of the customers of Green Thumbs Mart came to San Piñata for the first time only after the informative advertising campaign launched by Green Thumbs and on most days Green Thumbs Mart attracts more customers than it can serve.
c. The profit per customer is higher, on average, for those served at Green Thumbs Mart than for those served at the Earth Friends Supermarket.
d. The Earth Friends Supermarket is not open on Sundays, and therefore San Piñata residents who choose to shop on that day must either go to Green Thumbs Mart or to farther neighboring towns.
e. A significant proportion of the staff at the Green Thumbs Mart is made up of people who formerly worked at the Earth Friends Supermarket and were hired away by the owner of the Green Thumbs Mart.
