Parallelism Query

by sujit2k7 Thu Mar 22, 2012 10:38 am

Is the below sentences correct:

A is X times more likely to happen than is B
A is X times more likely to happen than B is.
A is X times more likely to happen than B.

I am really confused about parallelism.what is rule we need to follow.

All the sentences look fine to me. You must look for the placement of the helping verbs.

A is X times more likely to happen than is B: inversion in the standard structure AS X THAN Y = unnecessary complication

A is X times more likely to happen than B is: compare "A is" and "B is" = correct

A is X times more likely to happen than B: compare "A is" and "B" = not parallel
