thapliyalabhi is 100% correct on this. You would need to have some other past event in order for "had" to be warranted:
Veronica had traveled all over the world in 2007 before she got married in 2008.
Even in this sentence "had" isn't 100% necessary, since there are dates to give us reference. "had" would be necessary without the dates though to express which event happened first:
Veronica had traveled all over the world before she got married.
