Hello, I was waiting for an Admission Expert's advice and ran into your message. I hope I'm not imposing... but I wanted to share some of my thoughts.

If you are planning to take online courses and BU is one of your top choices, I would take a look at BU's online courses (see link below). I recently earned an MS from Columbia through "CVN" and Columbia MBA's admissions office reacted very positively. Despite my dismal undergrad GPA, they responded very positively regarding my "academic stats." Similarly, if you are adamant about taking online courses, I would take courses from the school you want to apply to.

All in all, if I were in your shoes I would focus on (order of importance):

1. Why MBA - shortterm and longterm goals that demonstrates how the MBA will help you get there and what you can contribute to your peers.
2. GMAT 700+
3. More focused extracurricular activity that you feel passionate about - You have scattered "activities" but no "responsibilities" or "ownership." I'm no expert, but I would personally scratch my head if this person simply listed extracurricular activities that are scattered around. To me, an extracurricular activity is an opportunity to demonstrate your characters and how you own it to the adcoms.
4. Recommendation letters
5. Extra online classes - It's a plus if you get A's to demonstrate your capacity as a student, but it will be better if the grades are from your target schools. It would be even better if you can demonstrate the purpose of WHY your taking these courses by doing projects/conferences related to the courses that you are taking.

Online BU courses (expensive... but extensive)

Hi Neeti,

I responded to this same post in GMATClub, response below, thanks. ;) PS-- fyi happypices is not affiliated with mbaMission, just in case there was any question! ;)

Hi there,

Thanks for your post. Schools are certainly always looking for qualified female applicants, though there is also generally a very large applicant pool of Indian IT applicants so it's important to work to differentiate for the average applicant in that group (for example, focusing on leadership and communication skills that may be less common among IT/engineers).

The schools you mentioned would likely be within reach, though the closer you are to the average GMAT the better. I would suggest considering taking it again if possible.. schools take the highest score, and if you think you can increase that score (which is usually easier to do with a 650 than a 680/700), then you can improve your acceptance chances greatly. For more on choosing your target schools, check out our free download at: http://info.mbamission.com/Selecting-Yo ... ram-E-Book.

Good luck and keep us posted!
