Please evaluate my profile

by rajeshdce Sun Jul 03, 2016 6:23 am

Hi,

I just appeared for GMAT and got 670(QA49 VA33).

Schools I am targeting:
Canada B-Schools(Rotman, Queen's, Schulich, Sauder, McGill)
NUS
Insead, Judge

Profile:
I have 6 years of work ex out of which 4.5 with Adobe but mostly on technical side.
My engineering college is among top 10 Engineering colleges in India.
Score in BE - 69%

Apart from that I do not have any substantial data to show in terms of NGO, Client interaction etc.

Could some please comment about my chances in above mentioned Schools?

If you can list some good schools for me then please do. I am mainly looking for a career in Product Management in big IT firms(Google, MS, Amazon, Adobe etc) after MBA.

Also, I am planning to give GMAT again within 2-3 weeks, hoping to cross 700. But I want to apply this year. So, If I don't get improved score I will apply with this one. Hence, I need inputs from experts.

Thanks

Hi there!

I think your current score puts you in a good position for the Canadian schools and NUS. But having a higher score, especially on your verbal, would really improve your chances at Judge and INSEAD. INSEAD is the most competitive school on your list so that could be a stretch depending on how the second attempt goes, they really like to see 70-75 %ile scores in both Quant and Verbal at INSEAD.

Your goals make sense and will be a good use of your technical background. Make sure you are showing (in your resume primarily) any exposure you've had to marketing or product management as well as other non-technical skills that will be required (e.g., collaboration, managing a project or budget, persuading others, etc.).

Good luck!
Kate

Thanks Kate,
Your reply is most optimistic among all the replies I am getting from different forums. I do not have explicit experience in product or program management but something can be expressed about points that you mentioned.
I will your points in mind.
