Hi,
i have 3 days to go for the test. but i am still not fine with the verbal part. i know all the basics for SC & have practiced (un-timmed) a lot. but when it comes to give the test, i get tensed specially in SC part. I cant understand what strategy should i follow--

1) search for the error in the original sentence, then see which sentence fixes the error..
2) look for differences in answer choices & determine the correct choice .

i face the same problem with CR, even though i have practiced, i am unable to finalize a strategy that does work in the exam ..

please suggest which is the best & most time effective strategy that one should follow for high accuracy. my mail id id kthosani@gmail.com. john (INSTRUCTOR) is possible please mail me something in details, do i can get through....

Hi Tony,

Sorry to not have responded to this until just now. We can't respond directly by email to questions posted here. However, if you are a student in one of our classes, please email you instructor directly with these questions, or sign up for Office Hours, etc.

In general, I think you can actually use both approaches: spotting errors in the original AND scanning for splits. When I read the original sentence, I keep an eye out for errors. If I find a clear error, I look to see where else that error is made, so that I can get rid of as many choices as possible. From there, however (or if I don't find any errors at first), I begin to use splits. Just keep in mind that you do not want to search for your "ideal" sentence - it might not be there, and this could lead you into a trap, whereby you fix one mistake only to overlook another. Like all Verbal problems, SC is a process of elimination.
