Profile Evaluation - 550 GMAT

by devisk718 Mon May 05, 2014 12:10 am

Gmat 550
GPA 3.1
11 Yrs work experience in accounting

My resume is stellar yet my GMAT isn't. I have studied yet I don't seem to be able to score higher, and this is my third try.

I am considering these schools:

Santa Clara
SF State
University of SF
UC Davis

I know UC Davis is quite the stretch, but I want to try it anyway. Any help/recommendations would be greatly appreciated.

Hi there,

Thanks for posting. It does sound as though you have struggled to really crack that GMAT... the 550 is certainly low. UC Davis would be quite a stretch. The others are still a stretch but closer, with a good application it's possible you'd be considered. I'd be curious on the GMAT though, as (coming from a GMAT teacher/tutor for almost 8 years), those who I see scoring in mid 500's actually are usually able to bump it up a LOT with some good prep. Wondering what sort of prep you've done... private tutoring? live or online course? just books? how many practice tests did you take and how did you do on them?

But if you feel you prepped sufficiently and keep scoring in the same range etc certainly it may make sense to focus on other things.....it's just you don't want schools to worry about whether you can handle the program. ;)

Keep us posted!
