by gmt_life Fri Sep 28, 2012 3:18 pm

I am planning to moving on with my lower GMAT score (620, Q49 V26).

GMAT: 620 (Q49 V26) Sep 2012
Academic Background: decent. 10th 85%, 12th 70% undergrad: 3.00 (ops!) MBA (from the best of my country) CGPA: 3.33 Major- Marketing, major CGPA: 3.75. topper.

W.Ex: 6.5 year in a telecom giant of 40million sub-base. Promotion in regular interval. Have experience of launching and operating unique distribution model; business and strategic analyst for 3.5 years and continuing. Entire experience is in Sales and Marketing.

Extra C: Led the MBA as Class Monitor (?). Captain of basketball team ... movie club ... brand ambassador of company...

Schools and Programs:
1. Terry, USA
2. Gent, Belgium
3. Tilburg, Netherlands.
4. Edwardsville (S. Illinois), USA
5. W. Madison ( The dream one)

I will be applying for Masters in marketing research / analysis.

Please dont ask me to retake GMAT. I dont want to burn right now. I am planning to move with this score and to retake it next year for my Phd after my masters (!!!) My plan is to strengthen my quant part (academically) to have a good shot in phd (after this masters)

Am I in the right track ?

Hi,

Thanks for submitting. I understand your GMAT burnout and I think it's good to have the self-awareness to know when it's time to move on. Your list looks fine to me. My only warning to you is to be very careful not to come across as a degree-collector. You already have an MBA, you're seeking a second one and you're going to go on to receive a PhD - this could be a red flag for the admissions committees. Just want you to be aware of this!

Good luck,
Mili

Thanks for replay.

Actually I have selected my target schools based on the curriculumn of the programs. These curriculumn are significantly different than those of MBA s. All the programs I am applying are forcused on quantitative analysis related to marketing hugely. As for example, all of these programs have data mining, econometrics, statistics, regression as separate courses. From my point of view, besides a 99pc GMAT score, these courses will help a lot to find a top tire PhD.

Yes. There is apossibility that the adcom may think me as a degree collector.
How can I convince them. Any suggestion ? advice ?

I apologize - - are you applying to MBA programs or Masters' programs? This forum is for MBA applicants. Thanks!
