Profile Evaluation // Female // 650 GMAT // 3.5GPA

by mm2907 Fri Aug 08, 2014 11:36 am

Hello,

I am looking for a profile evaluation. I am currently admitted to the UT - Mccombs Evening program, but I am planning to apply to Duke & University of Michigan Full Time Programs for Fall of 2015.

I have a 650 GMAT score and a 3.5 GPA from DePauw University. I majored in Economics with a minor in Business Administration. I was a four year varsity golfer, as well as a Computer Science tutor. I was extremely involved in extracurricular activities on campus, as I was on the Board of Athletics, Allocations Board, and was extremely active in our Women in Economics and Business group. I was admitted to two honor societies, which were the National College Athlete Honor Society (Chi Alpha Sigma) and the International Economics Honor Society (Omicron Delta Epsilon.

Since graduating, I have worked four years for a private equity company, of which I am now Vice President. I have established an $80 million investment fund and an $175 million investment fund raised primarily in China. In the past four years, I have spent a considerable amount of time in China securing these funds. I have very unique work experience.

I am very active in my community, particularly in community service through the Junior League.

I would greatly appreciate insight into the likelihood of my admittance to either Duke or University of Michigan full-time MBA programs. Thanks in advance!

Hello!

Almost wondering if we have met before-- did you post on another board as well? ;) Or perhaps just have a profile similar to another poster!

Anyway you have a lot going for you, namely....

-excellent work experience and progress in your role; sounds like significant accomplishments and impact made
-extensive international experience
-various examples of involvement, dedication & commitment through activities
-community commitment
-solid GPA

Your biggest weakness based on this info is that GMAT of 650. It would be great to bump that up some for Duke/Michigan. Is that an option?? It's common to re-take and schools take the highest score, fyi. I see a lot of progress from students at this score level (as a former GMAT teacher/tutor for many years). Might they accept you despite the 650 if they love your profile ? Sure, that is possible.... but bumping it up closer to the school average would help!

Let us know what else we can do to help, good luck!
