Profile Evaluation / Retake needed?

by kprasong Sun Nov 18, 2012 8:22 am

I'm in senior year in BBA program (Marketing)
in #1 business school in a small country, exchange student at UC Irvine
GMAT : V38(84%)/Q49(83%)/Overall 710(92%) / IR 8(92%)
but I got quite low AWA of 4.0 (20%)
GPA : now 3.74 but not yet graduated
English isn't my first language
IELTS : (taken at the same week with GMAT) : 9.0 listening, 8.5 reading, 6.5 writing, and 6.0 speaking
Experience: NGO internship in business advisory service division, business plan competition organization comittee, staff for school activities

1) Should I retake GMAT?
(i'm not sure if it would be even lower in V/Q/IR)

2) Would my low AWA score matter in the application?

3) I'm planning to study master degree after graduation:
>hopefully: 2+2 HBS, Yale Silver Scholar, Stanford deferred
How much chances do I have at these school.
>plan B: MSc at Erasmus University (RSM), Poly U(HongKong)

Thank you

Hi!

Thanks for sharing your profile. I don't think that you need to retake the GMAT - your AWA should not impact your application in a serious way.

You have a strong academic background and a good internship, but I'm not sure that you have the degree of leadership experience that these programs look for in undergraduate candidates. I would need to know more about your leadership experience, but usually, to be admitted to these programs, you need to show a very strong history of leadership - both professionally, extra-curricularly, and in the community. If you want to elaborate on your leadership experience, I can give you a better sense of what to expect, but if you don't have strong involvement in these areas, then I think HBS and Stanford are unlikely.

Hope this helps,
Mili
