Profile Evaluation

by taylor84 Tue Jan 08, 2013 6:56 pm

I am a Junior who took the GMAT earlier today and I scored in the 94th percentile with a 720 (50 in quant, 37 in verbal). I do not have a ton of work experience, but I have a 3.75 GPA (I am a quantitative economics major) at Miami University in Ohio, and am currently the Vice-President of my fraternity. What are my chances of getting accepted by a program like Harvard's 2 + 2 program? Also, what are some things that could help my chances?
Thank you.

Hi,

Thanks for sharing. The Harvard 2+2 program is pretty competitive. You generally have to have incredible internships that gave you the chance to demonstrate lots of leadership, and a lot of extracurricular and community leadership experience. I don't think your current profile would be competitive for the program. To improve your chances, you could consider taking on additional leadership roles on campus. You could also take a part-time job or look for a very strong internship for the summer.

Best of luck!

Out of curiosity, how important are the IR and AWA scores on the GMAT?

Not as important as the verbal and quant. The IR is probably the least important at this stage since it's so new. AWA is important, but I wouldn't retake it if you have a really great verbal/quant and a mediocre AWA. Just make sure your essays are well-written.

Good luck,
Mili
