Hi,
I was hoping I could get a quick profile evaluation. I am planning on applying in Round 1 for admission in 2014 for Booth, Kellogg, HBS, Stanford and Sloan. I'd appreciate any advice on what I can do in the meantime to improve my candidacy.
GMAT: 710 (48Q/40V)
Undergrad
3.89 out of 4.0 BSB in Economics with a minor in Chinese from a small private university. I graduated in the top 5% of my class and was in the University's honor program. I was involved with student government and had numerous leadership roles in several different groups. While in college I had internships working directly with the CEO's of the United Way and Goodwill. I also had an internship in Hong Kong working in corporate intelligence gathering, IP protection and private investigation.
Work Experience
I will have 5 years of work experience at matriculation.
Right out of college I worked for a year in product sourcing and development for a small consumer electronics firm. I was the youngest person in the company to be put in charge of managing a product line.
I have spent the last 3 years at one of the largest retailers in the country. I started as a planning analyst and was promoted to a senior analyst where I oversaw over $250M annually in inventory. I recently received a third promotion to an operational role where I serve as an internal consultant to the company's distribution centers. I have had several formal leadership roles in all three roles.
Extracurricular
I serve as an alumni career mentor to current students at my university
I train and actively compete in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu
I compete with my dog in agility trials
I have held several volunteer leadership and mentoring roles with the Boy Scouts
Thanks in advance for any suggestions!
