by puneet280798 Thu Aug 22, 2013 3:35 pm

Hey i took my GMAT yesterday and got 650. It would be very grateful of you if you can give me some insight about my profile. My major concern is that since i have a low GMAT score should i go forward with the gamble of applying to schools or reattempt for GMAT again. Below are some excerpts of my profile.
GMAT score: 650(Q-51, V-26)
Work Ex: I have an experience as business analyst of 1.5 years in one of the fast growing business consulting start-up in India. I have expertise in statistical modelling and data analytics in FMCG domian.
CGPA: 7.37 out of 10
College: I passed out of IIT-BHU where i held several key positions in cultural and technical wing of the college. Also i have repsented my college in several University and other all India events.
I have complete an MOCC in Finance offered by Ross school of business also have a certification in Environemtal Finance offered by TERI.
Nationality: indian
Schools targeting: I am targeting masters program offered by B schools such as MFE or masters in operational research and MBA program offered in India such as ISB and SP JAIN.

Can you please advice me with my dilemma.

Thanks
Puneet

Hi there,

Thanks for your post. A 650 is respectable, but definitely low for ISB. I am less familiar with the other programs you listed, but I'd suggest looking up their average and range of scores to have a better feel. Most programs take the highest score, so if you are able to re-take and bump that up it would probably help you in the application process.

I should also mention that for an MBA degree, your work experience is pretty limited... most applicants have 5 years of experience. You may want to gain some more experience on top of time to re-take and apply next year for better chances. For non-MBA masters degrees, less experience may be a bit more acceptable.

Good luck on your decisions!
