Profile Evaluation

by paritoshkala Mon Sep 09, 2013 11:46 am

Hi!

I took the GMAT last week and scored 710 (Q51 V34). Though I am happy with the overall score my verbal is not as good.

Anyways, I am an Indian Male with thirteen years of experience in the Indian Army. My experience includes leadership, operations and logistics experience. It also includes a UN experience in Sudan.

My undergrad GPA is very low (4.6/9) mainly because it was part of the military training that I went through. While my GPA during this time was not great, I stood third in military studies during the same period . Obviously, my focus at that time was military studies.

During my career , I have done exceptionally well in my military courses, topping a couple.
I also hold a Masters in Defence and Strategy with a distinction (76%).

I am looking forward to apply in Part Time / EMBA programs with Georgetown and Darden (U Va).

Looking forward to advice.

Thanks

Hi there,

Congrats on the 710! Yes your GPA is a sore point, BUT if you have a respectable GPA in your masters degree, coupled with the GMAT, that should help counterbalance the undergrad GPA. It's more recent, and it shows that you can handle business school.

That coupled with your military experience should make for an application that will get a closer read at Georgetown/Darden part time/EMBA programs. If you can put together strong application essays and really detail your leadership and teamwork experiences, and show both what you'll bring to the program and what you'll gain from it (goals), you should have a chance.

Good luck and keep us posted!
