Profile Evaluation

by salman.taq Fri Oct 11, 2013 6:27 am

Hi Jennifer,

Just needed to get your insight on my profile:

- Pakistani, Male, 26 years old
- Lahore University of Management Sciences B.Sc. (Honors) Mathematics, minor Economics, CGPA 2.7, SCGPA 3.4
- 1-year exchange year to York University, Canada, taking Actuarial Science courses
- GMAT 660 Quant 49 81%, Verbal 32 65%, IR 6
- 3 years work experience in Unilever (Consumer Goods), working in Modern trade, Key Accounts and Trade Marketing, while managing international customers like Carrefour
- 2 academic (1 math and 1 finance) recommendations and 1 professional (director modern trade) recommendation available
- Extra-curriculars include active participation in societies, attending Journalism conference in Hong Kong and participating in Economics competition in India
- My post MBA goal is work in an established Airline, Aviation industry in general

Target schools: Emory (Goizueta), Ohio-State (Fisher), Carnegie Mellon (Tepper)

Thank you for taking the time to review my profile. Would appreciate if you could provide me with any suggestions as to which schools I should include or exclude from the list. I am open to geographical boundaries and willing to include an EU school in the list as well. Also, would go for any kind of two-years M.Sc as well, provided that it takes me to my post MBA goal.

Cheers,
Salman

Hi Salmon,

Thanks for your post. I think you have some good experiences to draw from, at Unilever and with your international year abroad. The 660 is on the lower side especially for Tepper; your chances are likely decent at Goizueta, Fisher, and other schools in that range.

Your stated post MBA goal of working in the aviation industry is a bit surprising? What leads you to that desire, and what role are you interested in working in? Not sure in what way you feel an MSc could also work? You may want to do some more research into your post-MBA goals and their feasibility with your background, and what degree would be most ideal for those goals. That may also affect your school choice. For more on choosing schools, check out our free download at: http://info.mbamission.com/Selecting-Yo ... ram-E-Book

Good luck to you!
