Profile evaluation

Trying to assess my chances for a top U.S. MBA (H/S/W)

South American (Andean region) international male applicant graduated with a degree in business from a Top 25 U.S. School (Think Georgetown, Emory, Vand)
1. Gmat -760 (51 Q / 41V)
2. GPA - 3.8 - Magna Cum Laude, Business Honor Society
3. Work experience - 2 years investment banking at a bulge bracket in NYC focusing on Latin America. 2-3 years private equity in Brazil
4. Extracurriculars - Non profit consulting in college, lobbying for immigrant rights
5. Future goals - ST - work for regional LatAm PE fund, LT - start my own investment firm

Hi there,

Thanks for posting. Congrats on the GMAT! Everything you've shared sounds like a great start at this point; you've got the GMAT and grades and experience that should set you up well in terms of your chances at top b-schools as mentioned.

Of course there are no guarantees ;) and the admissions process is not just a straightforward 'formula' of say GMAT and GPA etc.... it is a holistic process and there's an element of subjectivity as well as simply comparing applicants to other applicants and assessing who will be the best addition to the class. So it will be important to really show even MORE about who you are in your essays, recommendations, interview etc. You'll want to show your leadership experiences and potential; your people & project management skills; your communication skills; your passions and goals; why you want the degree; and why you feel each school is really the right one for you.
