question about "after" and "subsequently"

by yuanyue92 Tue Aug 20, 2013 3:12 am

A problem in Chapter 2 of Manhattan guide 8 SC, Page 31
It asks us to tell whether the original sentence is correct, and whether the alternative sentence is correct.
original sentence: After the test format was changed, scores subsequently dropped by more than a 25% decrease.
alternative sentence:After the test format was changed, scores dropped by more than 25%
The solution says the alternative sentence is correct because we don't need both after and subsequently . But, can after convey the meaning of "as a result" as subsequently does?

or, subsequently merely means "after that"?

Thank you, Ron! Apparently I asked a silly question. I'll certainly look up in a dictionary before asking next time.

nah, it's probably a different thing: when you've been posting on forums for a while, it's easy to just post everything you're wondering about, rather than thinking about which things you could just look up yourself.

as for just posting a link, that wasn't trying to make your question look silly. (if i'd wanted to do that, i would have used "lmgtfy.com" instead.)
that was just me being too lazy to type anything else.

haha see that. Ron, u r right. I tried to search the forum before asking, but I should have forgotten the dictionary! Sometimes a wrong idea can appear so natural to a person.
