The book says that "Matt drives fast cars like his sister does" is incorrect. Any reasons why ?

Thanks

The usage of 'like' is incorrect in the sentence. Like is used to compare two nouns, but here it is comparing two clauses /action - 'Matt drives fast cars' LIKE 'his sister does' . Instead of like we should AS.

So the correct sentence should be -
Matt drives fast cars, as his sister does.

smohit has got it. "As" is correctly used to compare clauses, which are constructions with both nouns and verbs. Here we are comparing "Matt drives" to "sister does".
