question on stacking modifiers.

by usmanqd Wed Jan 02, 2013 8:35 pm

Hi,

Can someone please confirm if stacking modifiers as below is always wrong?
modifier, clause , modifier.

I saw the above order of modifier stacking in the following answer choice which was wrong.

Selling several copies in one month, the publication of "Blue Tape" in 1974 was an instant hit, helping to establish John as the preeminent composer.

But stacking of modifiers in the following order can be correct.
Modifier, clause, modifier, clause.

i'm hesitant to say that any construction is ALWAYS right or wrong, particularly without examples or a thorough description of what each piece in your construction represents (what you have presented is totally ambiguous)..
