Questions about two words

by KathyL227 Mon May 30, 2016 5:40 am

Hi Ron,

As a non-native speaker, I made several questions wrong, partially because I am not quite clear about the following two words. Could you help me with them?

Significance:
when it means “importance”, is it a uncountable noun?
“ it is a greater significance for A than for B” - Wrong?

the particulars of sth.
Does it actually mean the detailed items of…
e.g.: the process to develop the plan is more meaningful than the particulars of the plan… - correct?

Thank you so much.

it seems unlikely that you got "several questions" incorrect because of these words. more likely, you had trouble with exactly one problem containing "significance", and exactly one problem containing "particulars". (this seems extra clear because you've quoted large pieces of each sentence.)

please follow the forum rules:
• one problem per thread (...so, make a separate thread for each problem)
• please search the forum first, to make sure the problem(s) isn't/aren't already here
• post in the appropriate folder(s)
• post the entire problem, exactly as originally provided, including all answer choices
• cite the original source
• cite which answer is indicated as correct

thank you.
