Questions regarding “each other” and “one another”

by RickyH486 Tue May 31, 2016 5:13 pm

Hello MGMAT Instructors!

I have already done a little bit of homework myself and understood these two are reciprocal pronouns. “Each other” is used when refer to two people and “one another” is used when refer to more than two people. I am specifically confused with the “one another” and would like to present my question using a simple example first and followed by an altered version of a SC question from the GMAT prep.

Simple example: The kids don’t like one another.
This is a really simple sentence, but I actually have trouble fully understand the meaning behind and would like to seek for your explanation. If there are 3 kids (A, B, and C), does this sentence mean A doesn’t like B and vice versa + A doesn’t like C and vice versa + B doesn’t like C and vice versa?

My next example is from the paid prep pack and I apologize in advance if my altered version contains any unintentional grammar mistakes:

you are thinking of SC problems as though they were quant problems. that's a bad idea.

we can't use paid GMAC materials here. that includes "slightly altered" paid GMAC materials. (:
