by asad.alikhan Tue Nov 13, 2012 6:52 am

Dear Consultant,

GPA: 3.29/4.0
Major : Economics ( Top Pakistani University)
Minor: Finance & Accounting
GMAT: 690 (Q-50, v-32)

Work Experience: 5 years ( 3 years in Telecom)
2 promotions in 2 years
Pricing & Strategy - Telecom
2 of the top Telecom companies in Pakistan
Very selective
gave 10% revenue growth and launched some big campaigns
Leaded in managing and churning out different campaigns and revenue generating activities

Start-up
A chain of two outlets in biggest malls of the city and managed for an year before selling it on a profit

Founded a tutoring academy and managed it for an year

Extra-curriculars:

5 years teaching experience - Princeton Review GRE/SAT
And some other good experiences including societies etc

Also taught a blind professor maths for an year and a half without her knowing Braille to prepare her for GRE

now with all of this what schools do you suggest considering if i retake my GMAT i ll be compromising on my application. Is Booth, Kelloggs, Columbia and Wharton and Harvard way out of reach ?

If yes then which schools should i consider?

Please reply as soon as possible as I dont have much time left and want to start as soon as possible

Thanks Alot

Hello,

You've got an impressive profile, especially when we consider your entrepreneurial experience. Definitely your academics are a slight weakness, but I don't think they are going to make or break your application. So, in the interest of doing justice to your application, I'd say go ahead and apply with your current scores. It would have been nice if you had a 700+, but at this point, you don't have much time and I think it's important that you tell your story well.

I think those schools are possibilities, but I suggest you add some safer programs to your list.

Best of luck,
Mili

Hey Mili,

Thanks alot. But are schools like Fuqua, Tuck, Johnson and Darden safer?

A bit confused as I gotta decide quickly on schools and start applying.

Thanks,
Asad
