Quick Question from SC guide. Idioms (Because)

SC Guide, 3rd edition. Chapter 9, Page 184.

Plants grow as a result of the sun shining.

Why is this incorrect?

As a result of <NOUN or NOUN PHRASE> is correct

eg: Wealth grows AS A RESULT OF work
