RC Answer Choice Terminology Clarify

by LingH123 Thu Aug 25, 2016 12:10 pm

I searched the forum hoping to find an old posting. I could not find something similar. However, please let me know if this is already discussed.

As suggested in RC strategy, it's important to have a basic understanding of terminology/vocabulary used for RC. I struggled with this. I'm hoping if you could elaborate the terminology used in RC in the answer choices.
Specifically as an example,, how does "Evaluate" differ from "Analyze" , "Discuss" "Suggest" or "Advocate"? What logic/transition from the passage that would best qualify one terminology used to describe in passage vs. others?

Thanks in advance for answer

these are not difficult words; i trust you understand what they mean.

beyond that, there's no point in trying to have a "general" discussion of something like this. if any of these distinctions give you trouble in the context of a specific problem, then feel free to post a question about that specific problem (provided it's from a source that's allowed on the forum).

if anything, YOU may be making things unnecessarily difficult for YOURSELF, if you're approaching this as though there were specific "strategies" concerning these words, that need to be memorized.
there aren't (and, in general, there's *nothing* you can memorize for RC). these words mean exactly what they mean in normal, everyday English.
