Dear instructors,

In the chapter 12 of Manhattan, it mentions that the GMAT avoids the plural possessive answer choice, such as 'certain humans' parasites'. But how about the single possessive answer choice, whether 'certain human's parasites' is true or not.

Please provide a page number (and if relevant, the entire text of the problem) so we can take a closer look at the context of this one. I suspect you may have missed something more important here.

Thank you for your reply, it's in the page 240 of Manhattan SC Guide.

This is not a case of anything being "true or not", as you mention in your first post. Neither is wrong; it's just that the GMAT tends not to use plural possessives, so IF YOU HAVE TO GUESS that will help you increase the odds. The main thing to keep in mind is that the ONLY mistake anyone EVER makes on SC is eliminating the correct answer. For this reason you don't EVER want to guess unless you have absolutely nothing else to go on. If you see either one of these constructions on the GMAT, leave it in!
