Hello,

Thanks for sharing your profile. You're right that your undergrad GPA is not so strong, but I am hopeful that your strong GMAT will compensate for this. As far as work experience, yours sounds quite strong. Extracurricular activities are not as strong post-college - this could be considered a weakness. Community activity seems good - are you in a leadership role in the NGO?

I think you could probably try for programs like Michigan, Duke, Darden - schools in that range. It all depends what you want to do post-MBA and what kind of school you are looking for, but I think those programs would be the right level in terms of competitiveness. For safety programs, I would look at schools in the range of UCLA, UT, Cornell, Tepper.... again - depends what you want to do. There are lots of options!

Best of luck,
Mili

Thanks Mili Mittal

I just got my other scores- AWA:4 and IR: 5

I understand that these scores are not very strong and worried that they may effect my admissions in to top universities, please let me know their importance.
Also thankyou for the advice on the schools. I am planning to apply for the next academic session, which means I still have a good 6 months of time to apply. So I want to use this time to build my proflie both professional and community service. Would you like to suggest me anything to bolster my profile.
Regarding poor extra curricular post my UG, I have 6 day working schedule and I really don't get time to engage in other activities on week days and every Sunday I spend in the community service. So will this make it up for the poor extra curriculars?
As I saw the FT rankings , the schools you adviced were ranging from 18 to 55. What are my chances of making it to top 10 universities or to top 20 universities ? What is in my hands so that I can work out on them and make it to the top universities?
Kindly suggest

Thankyou!

The more you can demonstrate leadership inside and outside of work, the better. So, within your community work, if you can take more of a leadership role/responsibilities, that would be best.

As for AWA/IR, I wouldn't worry too much. The IR score is still being reviewed and it's not being weighted heavily at this early stage. The AWA is not nearly as important as your verbal and quant scores. To compensate, just make sure your essays are very well-written, well-structured, grammatically correct, etc.

Chances at a top 10 or 20 program? It's within reach given your strong work experience and GMAT, but it is by no means a guarantee. I'd recommend having one or two top programs on your list though - I'd recommended Michigan, Duke, and Darden which are all top 25 programs (and often top 20) depending on which list you look at. And remember, those rankings shift year over year because of different factors - I wouldn't put too much stock in whether the program is top 15 vs top 20 or things like that... the same programs tend to rotate positions within the top 20-25 schools.

Best,
Mili
