Although Ron gave an interesting discussion of parallelism, above (on page 5), I think that he went beyond what you need to know for GMAT. They won't test you on subtle nuances of meaning with parallelism, but will give much cruder errors. Sure, I think the parallelism in answer B is incorrect (since they are not separate facts), but notice how that is not the only thing being tested. The word 'extended' is a simpler way to eliminate that answer choice - see my earlier post.
