SC: In contrast to some fish eggs

by Guest Tue Nov 04, 2008 12:53 am

In contrast to some fish eggs requiring months to incubate, the Rio Grande silvery minnow produces eggs that hatch in about 24 hours, yielding larvae that can swim in just three to four days.

A) some fish eggs requiring months to incubate
B) some fish, whose eggs require months to incubate
C) some fish that have eggs requiring months to incubate
D) the requirement of months of incubation for some fish eggs
E) the requiring months of incubation, as some fish eggs do

I could not decide between B and C. Thoughts?

I will go with B.
A,D an E have to be eliminated because Rio Grande have to be compared (or contrasted) with fish.

C sounds very awkward. The fish 'have' fins but they don't 'have' eggs. They probably lay eggs :) (I am not too sure about that though). 'Have' indicates possession which is inappropriate in the given context.
B is grammatically correct with the modifiers being rightly placed and comparisons being properly done.
