SC strategy guide Pg 40

On Pg 40 it is given that
Technically, none of + plural noun can take either a singular or plural verb....

It means i can write any of the ones given below?

none of my parents is christian
none of my parents are christian

It depends on the sense of context.. If you treat "parents" as 2 separate entities( Dad and Mom ), then you will use are and if you treat "parents" as 1 single unit , you would use is.

You need to look up the section on countable versus uncountable nouns:

None of the water is drinkable.
None of the books are readable.
