POSTER:
A: Donald Trump, an old billionaire who claimed to be really smart, wrote the Art of the Deal and he persuaded former candidates to give him endorsements.
B: Donald Trump, an old billionaire who claimed to be really smart, wrote the Art of the Deal and persuaded former candidates to give him endorsements.

RON:the wrong way to do this is to look for some subtle reason why the version with the extra "he" is wrong.

the RIGHT way to do this is to remember that this is a multiple-choice test, and that this is a very straightforward RELATIVE judgment.

the sentence is perfectly parallel and workable with the 2 verbs in parallel.
therefore the extra "he"/"she" is unnecessary, redundant, and inefficient.

so, the sentence WITHOUT the extra pronoun is objectively better, and the sentence WITH the extra pronoun is objectively worse

Ron, there are questions in which subject is repeated after and and also in some questions, no subject pronoun is repeated.
Can you tell when to repeat and when not to repeat?
I believe that in any answer choice that would'nt be the only error, but it will help us a lot to get a clear understanding on the issue.

Thanks

if you have a CHOICE between repeating the pronoun and not repeating the pronoun, then ... don't repeat the pronoun.

if you have no such choice, then this is a non-issue.

that's it.

don't forget that this test is multiple-choice!
for some reason, you're trying to learn to WRITE these sentences from scratch. not only is that 100,000,000 times harder than what you actually have to do on this exam, but it's also a totally irrelevant skill set.

got it.
Not repeating the pronoun also makes the choice more concise, so a win-win situation, right?
