Scores Confusion

Hello there,

I am having a big confusion as to which score should I submit for my HBS application. The deadline is 8th April and I haven't been able to decide whether I should submit my GRE or GMAT score.

I gave my GRE last year and scored 325/340, converts to 1330 (800+530)
Q-170 (99 percentile)
V-155 (69 percentile)

And I appeared for GMAT recently and scored 680 (85 percentile)
Q-50 (90 percentile)
V- 31 (59 percentile)

My GRE score shows a better percentile in both sections compared to GMAT but I understand that GRE is easier than GMAT. The GRE score when converted to GMAT by the ETS tool is 680, identical to GMAT score. So, I'm in a dilemma thinking about which one would be better. Also, are we required to submit the GRE score on the 340 scale for HBS or 800 scale and is it advisable to submit both the scores in the application?

I would appreciate any recommendations made regarding this matter. Thanks

Hello,

Tough decision - I can see why you're uncertain! In general, I think it's usually better to submit the GMAT when the scores are comparable. On the quant side, I think that would be fine - 90th vs 99th percentile quant is not a big deal... but 59th vs 69th percentile on verbal is what makes me think twice. In your case, I might suggest submitting the GRE as your official score, and self reporting the GMAT score in your application as well.

I'm not sure which scale you need to submit -- I would call the adcom and ask them directly.

Thanks for the recommendation. Please let me know which scale should I use for submitting my GRE score (HBS) once you contact the adcom.
