OA is B.
a greater proportion than (that) in any year previous year

A is wrong because in the following sentence:
"a greater proportion than it was in any previous election.""
antecedents of "it " are illogical.

i think ans shud be C...
reasons..... first ,soaring costs is plural and only C uses they for costs....
second,we r talking of an earlier pd before 1992, so have been is reqd...
ofcourse which is wrong and C wud have been even better if it was 'a greater proportion' rather than only 'greater proportion'...so i can think of C AS CORRECT ANS..
