sqrt(1919)
__________
sqrt(0.1919)

Answer: 100

Shouldn't the answer be 10,00, since I would square the whole fraction to remove square root?

Can't I square the whole fraction here?

Please post question source

Hi Sri,

To avoid any copyright issues, we must ask for the source (author) of the question before responding. Do you remember where you saw this one? Also, it would be best if you can provide the full text of the question, including answer choices if it was multiple choice, for the benefit of other forum users.

Thanks!

Question from OG - Quantitative Guide

by GMATPaduan Mon Jun 25, 2007 11:21 am

Please quote the number - I know it is from the Quantitative Guide, but I don't have it handy.

The below explains why the answer is 100.

sqrt(1919)
__________
sqrt(0.1919)

= sqrt (.1919)*10^4
________________
sqrt (.1919)

= .1919 cancels out, and you're left with the sqrt of 1 * 10^4;

sqrt of 10^4 = 10^2 = 100.
