strategy guide vs forum for SC

What is advised,

-->going through the strategy guide and then approaching forum
OR
-->learning strategies applied to real GMAT questions directly as is done in forum( and thus skipping strategy guide altogether)

this is a general study question, so it belongs in the General GMAT Study Questions folder (= first folder on the forum home page).
this folder is for specific questions about individual verbal problems.
