Subgroup Modifiers problem... thanks~~

by jay871750293 Sun Jun 30, 2013 10:55 am

Hi~ instructor

A question regarding "Subgroup Modifiers" in Chapter 12 of Manhattan SC baffles me a lot recently.

In P240, there are three example sentences:
Right: This model explains all known subatomic particles, some of which were only recently discovered.
Right: This model explains all known subatomic particles, some of them only recently discovered.
Right: This model explains all known subatomic particles, some only recently discovered.

My question is whether these two sentences are correct or not?
#1 As for subatomic particles, some of which were only recently discovered.
#2 As for subatomic particles, some of them were only recently discovered.

No, I think both of them are not correct as both of them are not the complete sentences.

Thanks for your reply, Willy~
I have the same doubt like what you said, however, with no certainty.
Are you sure about that?

I think I am sure, you can also see the official examples (i mean page no. 240) as you have mentioned in the very first post. They all are complete sentences but your own constructed examples are not complete sentences, both of them have 'dependant clause' starting with AS but there is no independent clause in either of them to complete the sentences.

don't do this -- unless you want to wait longer for a response.

we answer everything in order from oldest to newest. the newest posts are answered last.
if you do this, you are making your post the newest one of all. end of the line.
