Subject Verb agreement

by ds.savio Wed Mar 21, 2012 4:34 pm

Had two queries from the subject verb agreement on the Manhattan Strategy Guides-4th Ed.

Page 47

(3) A venomous snake was designated as the emblem of the rebellion by the insurgency.... ( This was my answer).

Query: In American ( Gmat English) is something designated as or is it simply designated i.e can the as be dropped?

(6) Does someone "call" a tenants meeting or "call for" a tenants meeting?

I got the SV agreeement right but respondes as call for a tenants

(3) drop the "as" on the GMAT..

(6) either can be correct, depending on the context. these options convey two different meanings, so you need to figure out what the intent of the sentence is if that is relevant to choosing a correct answer..
